For the Selasar Solo Project Series, I present video works, as a medium that I have always used in art, video is closely related to my daily life.
Video cannot be separated from the culture of viewing, where the act of watching produces a control between the viewer and those being watched; invisible spectators; who stares, peeps, judges and evaluates the object of his gaze.
Whether we want it or not, gazes are always all around us. The question is: do we want to follow what they want to see; or try to be what they want to see; trying to impress something perfect while feeling tormented, or being what it is in the eyes of the beholder, but unconsciously we are being judged as objects to watch, and of course being controlled? Are these judgments ultimately the attainment of some form of happiness, or are they meaningless to a person at all?
